Urban exploration lovers, come along with us!

A ghost village just a plane's flight away from the capital

To get a better understanding of the history of Goussainville, we need to go back to the 1960s, when the town moved away from its historic center to get closer to the railway line that runs a bit further north. In doing so, it got closer to the spot that would become the airport 14 years later

Because yes, an airport, with planes taking off and landing every 3 minutes throughout the day, makes a crazy amount of noise. So much so that, apart from a few die-hards, the vast majority of residents end up leaving Goussainville, leaving the village abandoned.Paris Airport Group intends to buy up the deserted buildings to demolish them, but a church listed as a historical monument is hindering the process and protecting the site and its few residents.

When Nature Reclaims Its Rights

Today, the city is almost intact and accessible to anyone, offering a lovely little 2-kilometer walk for those curious to see nature reclaiming its rights over the buildings and human transformations. On the agenda is the famous church, as well as an old café (Le Paradis), houses, stables, and even a dovecote. A mini-hike directly accessible via the RER D, which will take you on a journey through time.

and the weather, to a place where everything seems frozen in the early 70s. And the good news is that, considering the length of the trail, it's the perfect spot for budding walkers who want to enjoy without too much struggle!
