Delicious news during this heatwave: a new swimming spot is set to open right in the heart of the capital! Below the quai de Grenelle, in the 15th arrondissement, a large swimming pool is currently being installed in the Seine, with an opening planned for July 5th. Designed as a natural pool right in the river, this floating basin will allow 150 swimmers at a time to take a dip in a dreamy setting, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and facing the Île aux Cygnes. It’s a technical feat as refreshing as it is symbolic, made possible by the cleanup efforts for the Seine that have been underway for several years.

A Large Floating Construction Site
Under the feet of walkers, a true giant Meccano has been assembled in recent weeks. Supported on stilts, the basin connects to the bank and consists of three distinct zones: a large area for swimming, a medium one for splashing around, and a small one for children. To install these floating walkways and structures, built by the same company behind the Olympics, an army of engineers, welders, crane operators, and even divers had to be mobilized. In the end, a new aquatic lungs will enhance the Parisian landscape.

More Swimming Spots Along the Seine Coming Soon
If the City of Paris initially dreamed of five swimming sites, it turns out that three iconic spots will open starting in July: the Grenelle arm, along with the Marie arm (14th) and the Bercy quay (12th). Everywhere, the setup will feature floating docks to make access to the water easier and ensure safety, with well-defined and supervised areas. Above the water, changing rooms, showers, and lockers will enhance the experience.
It’s important to note that to take a dip, you’ll need to pass a swimming test when entering the water. A comfort test is required, “without any material assistance.” The goal? To ensure that everyone can swim without sinking. If...If that's the case, a bracelet will give you unlimited access to swimming until August 31. All we have to do now is cross our fingers that the water quality is spot on... and that the **only aquatic creatures we encounter** are **enthusiastic swimmers**.
