Delightful news during these hot days: a new swimming spot will soon be inaugurated right in the heart of the capital! Down by the quai de Grenelle in the 15th arrondissement, a large swimming pool is currently being installed in the Seine, with an opening set for July 5th. Designed as a natural pool in the flowing river, this floating pool will allow 150 swimmers at the same time to take a dip in a dreamy setting, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and facing the Île aux Cygnes. A technical feat that's as refreshing as it is symbolic, made possible thanks to the clean-up efforts for the Seine that have been underway for several years.

A Grand Floating Construction Site
Right beneath the feet of strollers, a true giant meccano has been assembled in recent weeks. On stilts, the pool is anchored to the shore and consists of three distinct zones: a large area for swimming, a medium-sized area for splashing, and a small area for children. To install these floating walkways and structures, created by the same company as the one for the Olympics, an army of engineers, welders, crane operators, and even divers had to be mobilized. In the end, a new aquatic haven will enhance the Parisian landscape.

More swimming spots in the Seine coming soon
While the City of Paris originally dreamed of five swimming locations, it turns out that three iconic sites will open in July: the Grenelle branch, along with the Marie branch (14th) and the Bercy quay (12th). Everywhere, the layout includes piers to make access to the water easier and ensure safety, with well-defined and supervised zones. On the surface, there will be changing rooms, showers, and lockers to enhance the experience!
It's good to note that to take a dip, you’ll first need to show you can swim when entering the water. A swimming test will be expected, “without any equipment.” The goal is to ensure that everyone can swim without sinking. If... If that's the case, a bracelet will give you unlimited access to swimming until August 31st. Just keep your fingers crossed that the water quality is great... and that the only aquatic creatures you'll encounter are enthusiastic swimmers.
