For the past few days, it has been hot. Very hot. Way too hot in the capital. To combat the stifling heat and the thermometers hovering around 35°C, some have decided to take action. So, while the City Hall of Paris has decided to open the Saint-Martin Canal for swimming ahead of schedule, on its side, the iconic Joséphine Baker pool, located on a barge on the Seine, welcomes us at night at least three times a week.

Unforgettable evenings to fight the heat

This week, the thermostat is expected to reach nearly 40°C in the capital. It's intense heat, pushing some to find solutions to avoid melting away. And for that, what could be better than a little dive with a view of the Seine?

bsp;? That's perfect timing! To beat the heat, the Joséphine Baker pool, which has been welcoming Parisian swimmers for no less than 20 years, is opening its doors until 10 PM, and this happens 3 times a week — on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. It’s the perfect spot to take a dip after work and enjoy the sunset over the Parisian waters right from the pool! For the rest of the week, the barge closes its doors between 7 PM and 8 PM, which still gives the lucky ones the chance to rock their best swim caps.

A Grand Finale

Besides allowing you to cool off in truly exceptional conditions, a little detour to the Joséphine Baker pool would be the perfect way to say goodbye to this iconic spot by the Seine, which is set to close its doors for good in 2027. Due to overly complex and costly maintenance, along with issues of leaks and corrosion, the pool will likely stop welcoming visitors as soon as next year, and this time for good. So, shall we meet up for one last splash at the end of the day?
