Spending an entire evening at the heart of the glamorous soirées of the Belle Époque? Sounds tempting, right? To do so, head to the château de Vaux-le-Vicomte for an extraordinary event. A unique party, organized by the Association of Friends of Vaux-le-Vicomte, to enjoy a timeless moment, filled with performances and immersive experiences. It’ll be a special evening, where history meets magic!
A true journey through time
In 1875, the French industrialist Alfred Sommier became the owner of the château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. Shortly after, he had it renovated at great expense to transform it into a must-visit venue for the social life of the 19th century.cle, bringing life back to this monument through lavish and cherished receptions. 150 years after this revival, for one evening, dive back into the extraordinary atmosphere of these high society celebrations typical of the Belle Époque, where you will be welcomed by the owner of the place, Mr. Sommier himself !

On the agenda, an unforgettable evening filled with immersive theater shows and live performances, celebrating this invaluable heritage. Actors and dancers will come together for this special anniversary, and a lanternist will even join us to light up the night with his magic lantern, the ancestor of the projector as we know it today. It’s a rare chance to discover the castle in a whole new light. And rest assured, no costume needed; the performers and the decorations will be enough to transport you!
An extraordinary castle
But beyond this fantastic event, it’s truly the estate itself that is worth the visit. Because Vaux-le-Vicomte castle is simply...our favorite in the region, by far. So why, you might ask? First of all, because it is truly impressive, whether by its architecture or its gardens. It offers a magical setting, imagined by Louis Le Vau (architect), Charles Le Brun (painter), and André Le Nôtre (landscaper). Together, they created a spectacular place. So beautiful that Louis XIV built Versailles just to compete with it, calling upon the same artists.

And then, because its first owner, Nicolas Fouquet (who was imprisoned, again due to the king's jealousy), is one of the men who could be behind the famous legend of the man in the iron mask. And we indeed find that pretty stylish!
