Just an hour from the capital, you'll find a true haven of peace, perfect for disconnecting and taking a break from the bustling Parisian life: Nemours. A medieval town with discreet charm, where the Loing winds between old stones and terraces. It's the perfect spot for a day of relaxation, without breaking the bank on train tickets, since the Navigo Pass takes you there in one swift Transilien ride. Even better, this Sunday, it’s hosting the 13th edition of its big free summer event: Pays de Nemours along the Loing.

A medieval gem to rediscover

The first thing you notice when you step off the train at Nemours Saint-Pierre station is undoubtedly the impressive 12th-century castle, that feels like you’ve landed on a postcard. As you wander through the streets of the historic center, you'll find charming old houses, pretty cobbled lanes, and stone bridges that gracefully lead us to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, all while offering stunning views of the Loing. Once a bustling trade hub thanks to the river, the city has preserved a remarkably well-kept heritage that gives it a unique charm.

But what also adds to the charm of Nemours is its peaceful rhythm. Strolls by the water, the lawns of the castle where we settle down for a picnic, and the cafés in the center invite us to slow down, to take a moment to enjoy the beautiful weather and the surrounding tranquility. It's the perfect destination for those who wish to combine nature and culture without traveling hundreds of kilometers.

A festive and free day

And this Sunday, July 26, from 11 AM to 7 PM, the lawns and courtyard of the Château-Musée will transform into an unmissable gathering with a new edition of the Pays de Nemours festival along the Loing. A big summer celebration that highlights this river that has always supervised swimming area, try out canoeing, hop on electric boats, or simply relax by the water.

There will be endless animations offered all day long: giant bubble shows, workshops for watercolor and origami, exhibits about water and local history, not to mention the highly anticipated flip-flop throwing contest and pedal boat races, all in a festive and relaxed atmosphere. And for the food lovers, food trucks will also be present to keep you fed throughout the day. It's a perfect opportunity to discover Nemours at its finest... right by the water!
