The Editor

After the great success of its little medieval market last winter, the Tour Jean Sans Peur is bringing the experience back this year and inviting us to join on the weekend of December 6th and 7th. What's on the agenda? Passionate artisans, creations inspired by the Middle Ages, tea tastings, a fascinating exhibition of woven artworks, and a bunch of unique gift ideas for Christmas.

An Exhibition on Medieval Weaving

For this new 2025 edition, the Petite Marché Médiéval de Noël at the Tour Jean Sans Peur will feature five creators showcasing their medieval-inspired works, including illustrations, jewelry, and illuminated manuscripts. This weekend is organized in partnership with the tea house Kodama, which will be offering tea tastings throughout the two days of the market.

But before we dive into a wild shopping spree, let's explore the exhibition by artist Mee Ran Yeo. Her woven artworks, inspired by medieval techniques and symbolism, reveal a fascinating play of transformation in a threefold universe. One aspect is clear, the other deeply sensitive, both in texture and colors. The third relates to the sacred, to myths and symbols associated with all acts of weaving, which the artist connects to her Korean cultural roots

5 creators inspired by the Middle Ages

After immersing ourselves in the world of artist Mee Ran Yeo, let's stroll over to the Christmas market. There, we find Le Miroir Fou, which features illustrations inspired by engravers and artists from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. On their side, Corium Officina, a leather workshop and leather goods shop, offers accessories (bags, belts, jewelry…) inspired by historical periods. Everything is hand-cut and hand-sewn, using linen thread and without a sewing machine. The creator also uses top-quality French leather tanned using vegetable methods and revitalizes leftover scraps from fashion houses.

The market will also unveil the talents of Opus Pocus, who offers talisman jewelry inspired by medieval imagination, medieval architecture, Celtic lands, lunar cycles, and witchcraft... Each piece of jewelry tells a story, crafted from natural gemstones with protective virtues and silver. In a different style, Atelier Rêve Doré showcases its illuminated jewelry, along with illuminations reproduced on parchment, using colors made with traditional medieval techniques. Finally, La Belliqueuse takes you into the medieval bestiary with its embroidered creations in the form of badges. Funny and quirky, these creations directly reference medieval manuscripts.
