From ancient Egypt to the Renaissance, including famous paintings like The Mona Lisa and the apartments of Napoleon III, the Louvre is full of treasures waiting to be (re)discovered. On top of that, there's the exhibition Louvre Couture, blending fashion pieces and works of art, running until July 21, 2025. So, there are plenty of reasons to visit this museum, especially for free, on Monday, July 14th.

Most Parisian cultural establishments open

While the Louvre will be accessible for free, many other museums in Paris and the surrounding region will remain open, even though it’s a holiday. This includes places like Notre-Dame, the Sacré-Cœur, the Panthéon, the Conciergerie, the Sainte-Chapelle, the Bourse de Commerce, the Jacquemart-André Museum, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, the Army Museum, and the Maillol Museum, for example. Most of the châteaux in the area will also be accessible, including the Château de Chantilly, Château de Fontainebleau, and the Château de Versailles. The Arc de Triomphe and the Orangerie Museum will be closed in the morning, while the Palais Garnier will be open from 10 AM to 2 PM.
