This Saturday, November 16, an absolutely exceptional event will take place at the Château de Dampierre-en-Yvelines, just outside the capital. An extraordinary auction will give one lucky person the chance to become the proud owner of Vulcain, the largest dinosaur ever put up for sale.

Who hasn't dreamed of showcasing a skeleton of a dinosaur in their living room, measuring over 20 meters long and 4 meters tall? Well, we have some fantastic news for you, your wish could come true sooner than expected, thanks to the sale of one of these little creatures starting this Saturday. A specimen of Apatosaurus that’s 150 million years old, which is sure to make some of the wealthiest people quite envious.


Bones that are worth their weight in gold

Discovered in 2018 in Wyoming, the impressive Vulcain (that’s his nickname) took more than 3 years of excavation and work before it could be displayed to the public in an admirably preserved state, at the heart of the Dampierre-en-Yvelines castle, owned by the...repreneur Franky Mulliez. But here we are, like all good things must come to an end, the dino is about to embark on a journey to its new home, surely that of a very lucky private buyer.

To get your hands on this little marvel, made up of 80% native fossil bones (that’s over 306 bones, quite an amazing number for a skeleton of this type), you will still need to shell out quite a hefty sum. Indeed, this beautiful creature is currently valued at between 3 and 5 million euros. Quite the project, which means you’ll need a pretty interesting budget. Who knows, with a bit of luck, the sale of your mini studio in the 18th could cover the costs.
