A year until the Olympics: a giant karaoke in Châtelet Square!

It's a fact, time flies. But when we see that we are already preparing to celebrate the first anniversary of the Paris Olympics, I must say it gives us all a little twinge in our hearts. And for good reason, the international competition has left an indelible mark on the capital, thanks to some amazing competition venues, top-notch athletic performances, and especially a opening ceremony that will forever stay in our minds. Fortunately, to counteract the intense feeling of nostalgia that settles in us, the City of Paris has planned everything with a series of celebrations throughout the summer.


There’s going to be sports

But the city doesn’t stop there, as residents and tourists in the capital will also be able to enjoy kayak descents or paddle boarding to connect with the three new swimming spots, starting from July 5. There will also be sporting events held in various iconic locations around the capital, such as beach volleyball demonstrations, the European Swimming Cup at the Grenelle arm, an international pole vault competition on the Iéna Bridge, and of course the passage of the Tour de France in Montmartre on Sunday, July 27.


A 2.0 Ceremony

But it’s definitely around July 26, the anniversary of the majestic opening ceremony envisioned by Thomas Jolly,What is expected the most joyful moments. Thus, the Olympic rings will be projected on the Eiffel Tower on the 26th and 27th of July, as they won't be back in their original spot. The 10 statues of pioneering women unveiled during the journey on stage are also set to be permanently installed on Rue de la Chapelle in the 18th arrondissement, with a inauguration planned for that time.

On the 26th, the City Hall of Paris will also unveil a monument for the medalists of the Paris 2024 Games, featuring over 4,000 names. And to top it all off, « a giant live karaoke event, free and open to everyone ». Organized by the Théâtre de la Ville-Sarah Bernhardt at the Place du Châtelet (1st), the evening will be a chance to echo once again all the hit songs that have marked the Olympics.
