On December 9, 1986, the Musée d'Orsay, a former train station completely transformed into a temple of art, opened its doors. A little ahead of schedule, the teams of this monument invite us to rediscover it in a new light to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Far from Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, the institution's beloved themes, we are diving this time into the fascinating world of the living.
Two Vibrant Evenings
To experience this unprecedented spectacle, poetically titled Moments of Eternity, meet us on Saturday, January 24 and Sunday, January 25 in the museum's nave. On site, sitting or lying on the floor, you'll have the opportunity to gaze at the famous glass roof transform into a living canvas, a true inner sky. Guided by...
A travelling cell, brought to life by the actress Judith Chemla, will take you on a journey to discover the museum of life. In the heart of the night, the building will begin to breathe, showing cellular filaments transformed into constellations. On the music side, a strings and percussion ensemble led by conductor Dominique Lemonnier, better known as Solrey, will offer you vibrant music filled with pulsations, breaths, and bursts, creating a bridge between science and art.De gare à musée, histoire d’une métamorphose !

A Special Year
This weekend won't be the only chance to celebrate the museum's 40th anniversary, which has a very enticing program lined up for the coming year. The institution will invite us to dive into the history of the Statue of Liberty, but even more importantly, into the world of the painter Renoir with two exceptional exhibitions. One will focus on his drawings, a part of his work that is still too little known, while the other will explore his relationship with love, a universal and timeless theme. Classes, conferences, concerts, and workshops will also take place throughout the year, which promises to be magnificent!
