It's called the festival of colors for good reason. In India, “ Holi ” is one of the most popular, colorful, and festive celebrations. And just like every year, Paris is ready to honor this tradition straight from the jewel of the East. On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the Jardin d’Acclimatation will be adorned with a thousand and one colors from 10 AM to 7 PM, offering you a timeless experience and an unforgettable cultural journey.

Animations, traditions, and a splash of colors

Get ready to celebrate all day long! On May 18th, the atmosphere will be filled with music, dance, shows, and entertainment at the Jardin d’Acclimatation. The rule is simple: come in traditional costume or dressed in white. At 4 PM, you’ll experience the moment everyone has been waiting for: the famous great color splash where powders of every color will be released into the sky to create an amazing whirlwind of colors.

A festival inspired by a Hindu legend

In India, Holi is rooted in religion, especially Hindu mythology. The legend of Prahlad and Holika tells that Prahlad escaped the fire in which his aunt Holika wanted to burn him. This festival is a celebration of the victory of good over evil. It usually takes place on the full moon of the month of Phalguna, in February or March according to the Hindu calendar. It marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring. While it is associated with India, Holi is also celebrated in Nepal, Mauritius, and even Fiji. In Paris, the gathering is set for this Sunday! Happy Holi!
