As Paris sparkles in every corner to prepare for the holiday season, a new sound and light show is set to take place on the facade of the Musée d'Orsay. This amazing display celebrates culture and , viewable for free from the Seine quays near the museum.

A Large-Scale Student Project

Offered as part of an educational project, this spectacle is the result of the hard work of students from Gobelins, especially those in the "Graphic Motion Design" program. Together, the students from this image school have created eleven sequences that perfectly fit the Seine-side facade of the Musée d'Orsay.

The eleven video sequences create an 18-minute loop, projected continuously from dusk until 11 PM on the first night, and until 10 PM for the next two nights. It’s a full synchronized sound and light show, accompanied by music composed by students from the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance.

Caillebotte in Light

To envision this large-scale audiovisual event, the students from Gobelins have taken inspiration from the works of the renowned 19th-century painter: Gustave Caillebotte. This is a nod to the current exhibition at the Musée d'Orsay, running until January 19th: Caillebotte. Painting Men.

With the help of video mapping, the artist's works break free and come alive outside their frames. The characters and scenes from Caillebotte spring to life on this historic Parisian building, an old train station transformed into a Fine Arts museum. It's a wonderful opportunity to discover these major 19th-century works during a delightful nighttime stroll along the Seine.
