A unique cinematic experience not to be missed! Created in 2018 by the National Forest Office (ONF), the Branche & Ciné festival takes height for its 5th edition around the theme "perched in the trees." From June 29 to July 8, 2023, nearly 20 films will be screened for free in the forest, in the regions of Hauts-de-France, Île-de-France, and Normandy. Connected to nature, the festival attracts a diverse and numerous audience every year. In 2022 alone, Branche & Ciné welcomed over 5,000 spectators and presented 15 feature films dedicated to the forest.
Free screenings in 14 exceptional forest sites
Lying comfortably on a lounge chair, outdoors, with your head in the stars, all while watching a giant screen... that's what the 5th edition of the Branch & Ciné festival has in store for you. At nightfall - in the forests of Fontainebleau, Meudon, Compiègne, Retz or even Mormal - young and old can discover or rediscover films from yesterday and today. Presided over by Véronique Le Bris, a journalist and film critic, this new edition combines auteur films, studio films, animation, and fiction.
Near 14 forest sites, the following films will be screened:
exceptional: The Three Musketeers, d'Artagnan by Martin Bourboulon, Quest for Fire by Jean-Jacques Annaud, Tobie Lolness adapted from the novel by Timothée de Fombelle, The Tree by Julie Bertuccelli, The Little Band, the latest comedy by Pierre Salvadori, or even The Lord of the Rings. Films for all audiences in theaters
Young audience films in partner cinemas will complement the open-air program with cinema snacks and school sessions for kindergartens and primary schools. Screenings for all audiences accompanied by film debates or introductions offered by critics and cinema specialists.
And this year, Branche & Ciné is honored by the presence of its godmother, actress Juliette Binoche, who will host interviews with several festival guests of honor. Hayao Miyazaki, Jacques Perrin, Michel Ocelot will share their connection to art, nature, and how the forest inspires their creations.
