On December 9, 1986, the Musée d'Orsay, a former train station completely transformed into a temple of art, opened its doors. To celebrate this 40th anniversary properly, the teams at the museum invite us to rediscover it in a new way over the course of two weekends. The program includes celebrations, outdoor screenings, free visits and a number of surprises.
A Weekend of Celebration
To take part in the festivities, mark your calendar for December 5 and 6, 2026. For two days, the institution will welcome you for free, and let’s just say, its teams are ready to go above and beyond to offer you the best. It's a great opportunity to explore the collections of the museum.
mple of Impressionism without spending a dime, but also to enjoy an exclusive program created for the occasion. Among others, the artist Sophie Calle, the illustrator Catherine Meurisse, the singer Aldebert and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France will come to share their vision of the museum. A massive projection will also be organized on the facade of the old train station.Musée d'Orsay : Thomas Jolly va mettre en scène la fête de clôture des 40 ans du musée https://t.co/Pa9c6Y9ldF

An Evening Not to Miss
Next week, on December 12th, get ready for the highlight of the show. A unique evening, envisioned by the one and only Thomas Jolly, who brought us the incredible opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics on the Seine. This time, he's taking on another symbol of the capital, delivering a Boum themed around 1986, the year the museum opened. Designed as a moment that is « bold and joyful », this event will pay tribute to the building as well as the works it houses. A moment at the intersection of celebration and live performance, which promises to be absolutely magical!
The program remains a secret for now. However, we can imagine a number of guest artists who will make us feel alive and take us on a journey back to the 80s. Be careful, though, access to the evening, which is free, will be through a contest, so we recommend staying on the lookout !Voir cette publication sur Instagram
