Every year, no less than 3 million visitors tread the delicate land of the Sénart state forest. It is in Épinay-sous-Sénart, between Seine-et-Marne and Essonne, that its 3,000 hectares extend, filled with vegetation, bodies of water, and abundant biodiversity. Just 30 km from the Paris ring road, it is easily accessible to those seeking a forest that was once the preferred hunting ground of royalty and now a popular spot for walkers. Its name, "domaniale," reminds us that it became state property during the Revolution. From its past as a hunting ground, it still retains its long forest alleys, which cut through ancient stands of pine, chestnut, and fir trees. With 3000 hectares, there is plenty of room for running, walking, or engaging in sports. Despite being surrounded by 13 towns, with the Yerres Valley on one side and the Seine Valley on the other, the protected forest remains a haven of tranquility. It is no less than a haven of peace. Among wetlands and open spaces, of course, it holds a great biodiversity: wild boars, deer, foxes, birds, reptiles, amphibians... With 850 ponds and over 100 km of perfect roads for cycling or rollerblading, space is not lacking. During your walk, venture near the ponds of Sénart, the plains of Bergeries, or the burnt oak on the forest road; observe the trenches that date back to 1915, the heaths of Uselles, or the peat bog. It's bucolic to the max, you'll tell us about it.
