Every year, it's the must-see event of May. For one delightful evening, European Night of Museums sets the rhythm in various cultural establishments across France. Museums, libraries, monuments, and even castles extend their usual opening hours and welcome the public for free. For this 21st edition, mark your calendars for Saturday, May 17, 2025. To celebrate, we've picked out 5 castles in the Île-de-France region for you to explore early in the evening or after nightfall. Enjoy your visit!

Château de Sceaux

This is a wonderful opportunity to come and discover the Château de Sceaux, fabulously illuminated! From 7:30 PM to 11 PM, you can freely stroll through this historically rich home and explore the museum's collections. The Pavilion of Dawn will be accessible from 7:30 PM to 9 PM. Go for it!

Château de Fontainebleau

We don't even need to name it anymore; it's so obvious. The Château de Fontainebleau, built between the 12th and 19th centuries, is one of the most famous royal residences in French history. With its 1500 rooms, it is filled with treasures and wonders to discover, plus a 130-hectare garden. If you aren't familiar with it yet, European Museum Night will be a great opportunity to change that, and if you're already familiar with the place, there's no doubt you'll find something new to enjoy!

Always something new to discover.

It is in this lovely building that the Paul Belmondo Museum has set up its quarters, allowing the public to discover an important collection of sculptures, medals, and drawings that belonged to the famous sculptor. The Night of Museums will be a wonderful opportunity to freely visit the museum and explore this charming château. In the gardens, a brass quintet from the Boulogne Conservatory will be giving a concert.
