We all know it's not always easy to get on the same page with friends when it comes to planning a vacation. Between those who are all about sports and those for whom vacation (or weekends) means culture and relaxation, finding common ground can be a bit tricky. But Le Bonbon is here for you once again, and we've found a dream spot that everyone will love. The agenda includes: picturesque walks, medieval ruins, art history, and a canoe ride. Sounds good to you? Then join us on the discovery of Crécy-la-Chapelle.

A Journey to the Middle Ages

Our adventure begins at the Gare de l’Est, hopping on one of the trains on the P line of the Transilien to the charming town of Crécy-la-Chapelle. For those who like to start early, we’re taking the...

time to sit on the terrace and enjoy a nice little breakfast before diving into the day. For others, there’s no time to waste, let’s get moving to fully enjoy it.

And we start with a stroll through the historic heart of the city nicknamed "the Venice of the Brie"  because of its charming canals. A lovely walk along the quays, visiting the ancient...the washhouses, a walk across the little bridge on Dam’ Gilles Street leading to the medieval belfry, which hosts the oldest bell in the region. Then, we cross the town (about a twenty-minute walk) to reach the Collégiale Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, a true gothic masterpiece.

Time to recharge

At lunchtime, to recharge before the next (sporty) part of the program, you have two options. A classic picnic, for which, among the meadows, the quays, and the surrounding woods, you won't have any trouble finding the perfect spot. Otherwise, if luck is on your side and you happen to visit on one of the rare open days, you can head to the Yellow Mill, a breathtaking place.

The building welcomes artisans, artists, gardeners, and chefs along the Grand Morin to engage in research related to the creation of life and nature. They work in a way that their projects blend the real, the scientific, and the marvelous. Closest to the greenery, the Moulin Jaune invites its guests into a fairy tale for a day.

A little refreshment

To continue this already perfect day, let's change our perspective and get a little closer to the water to fight against the stifling heat that will surely bear down on us during the summer. For that, head over to one of the many canoe rental places in the area, where you can choose...sit a journey that is more or less long to discover the village in a different way, starting from the iconic canals. Let yourself be guided through the Painter's Valley for a magical moment.

Back at the dock, we finish up with a beautiful sunset by the water to treat ourselves to a well-deserved little aperitif, before hopping on the train in the opposite direction, to return to the capital. And for the less sporty, let's not forget to relax.rer a little after all those paddle strokes. You wouldn't want the soreness of the next day to spoil the end of your vacation after all!
