You've surely heard of "The Golden Owl", the statue that was finally found at the end of 2024 after a treasure hunt that lasted 31 years! Can you believe it? But guess what? It’s not done yet! Last October, Michel Becker, co-creator of the game, declared that « the new Golden Owl will soar [...] starting April 24 ».

A treasure hunt that was not meant to last more than two years
In 1993, Régis Hauser, also known as Max Valentin, launched the game On the Trail of the Golden Owl as a treasure hunt. A book, imagined with Michel Becker and containing eleven riddles, has been published to help "chouetteurs" find the famous golden owl. It's a prize of about 50 centimeters and 10 kilos, estimated at a million francs, which is roughly €150,000. Although the treasure hunt was intended to last only a year or two, it actually took 31 years! This makes it the second longest treasure hunt in the world, right after The Secret.

According to Michel Becker, the quest for "Golden Owl 2" will begin “exactly where the first one was buried.” So it will be essential to find this mysterious secret location.

To solve this, researchers will have the option to crack the mystery themselves, or wait for the movie The Discovery of the Golden Owl to hit theaters on May 2nd, which will recount the story of this incredible treasure hunt and reveal the location where it is buried.
