For five years, the Centre Pompidou will be closed for renovations. But there's no way we're leaving our loyal patrons without their beloved hub of knowledge, free and open to everyone. So, the Bpi is moving into a brand-new glass and concrete jewel, where it showcases over 317,000 books, 1,500 workspaces, and some thematic areas we just adore: the video game lounge, the Music room with vinyl records and pianos, and the Self-Training area lined with language methods, tutorials, and a treasure trove of digital resources.

A new life for the library!

Here, there’s no mandatory membership or social barriers: students, retirees, curious minds, and casual readers mingle freely just like at Beaubourg. Plus, there are some exciting new features: acoustic booths for peaceful phone calls, computer-assisted music stations, a mobile app to help navigate the shelves, and even a café to fuel those long study sessions.

A festive weekend !

Ten days after the reopening of the Lumière building, the Public Information Library is pulling out all the stops for a whole weekend of festivities, from Friday, September 5th to Sunday, September 7th. On the agenda: writing workshops, a language speed-dating event, a book club, storytelling, video games, and… a giant karaoke. Yes, the Bpi is so much more than just a library.

The Friday kicks off with a Speed Language Dating: a great opportunity to practice a foreign language or to share yours in a friendly atmosphere. Following that, a workshop on Georges Perec's W or the Memory of Childhood invites everyone to read differently, collectively.

Saturday promises to be intense: the launch of the Bpi Reading Club with a plo... ```born in the novels written by… imaginary characters, guided stroll through the collections by Hervé Brusini (Albert Londres Prize), presentation of the highlight novels of the new season by Cloé Korman, Gilles Marchand, and Séphora Pondi, followed by the presentation of the project “Letters of Light” by Alice Babin. Then it’s time for music: vocal warm-up and giant karaoke in the Music space, guaranteed good vibes.

Sunday, we're off to a flying start with a creative writing workshop Light on Words, a session of quick-fire writing to create microfictions on the spot, and the Story Capsules from La Cour des Contes, which take the audience on a poetic stroll among the shelves.

All weekend long, you'll find listening stations to (re)listen to the podcasts Capsule Bpi and Par Effractions, a selection of retro and indie video games featuring the best of the Press Start 2025 festival (plus a Minecraft server to reinvent the Pompidou Centre your way).

In short, three fun-filled days to (re)discover the Bpi, its collections, and its cultural programming.
