The Editor

We all have a great reason to go to flea markets: the prices, the ecology, the joy of negotiating or digging around to find what we want. So let's be honest, we know you can't resist, and neither can we! That's why we've listed the best ones in Paris. Thanks to us, you won't waste your time in places that don't suit you. And as a bonus, we've slipped in a few tips to become true pros. Nice, right?

The Most Instagrammable

On May 7th and 8th, the Louis-Philippe bridge in the 4th will host the most photogenic flea market. The spot is amazing with a selection that exudes vintage silverware and antique mirrors, and we just love it!

The most good vibes

On May 9, between Albert-Camus Street and Robert-Desnos Square, you’ll find trendy items in the incomparable atmosphere of the canal Saint-Martin. Just be careful not to lose sight of your goal while stopping to enjoy a beer!

The Most Hipster

This one might be our favorite! On May 16 and 17, at Martyrs Street in the 9th, you'll have the joy of discovering, right on the pavement, this rabbit-shaped lamp that you've never seen before but suddenly always dreamed of.

The OG

But the real reference of this world is the one on Rue de Bretagne, from May 22 to 24 in the 3rd. It’s the largest in central Paris, and the atmosphere is cheerful and relaxed. The best part is that we can stop for a lunch break at Alain Miam Miam.

The Hidden Gem

On Sunday, May 24, there's a flea market at Place Baudoyer and Rue François Miron in the 4th. This one is for the born flea market lovers, the sharpest eyes and the most insightful knowledge.

The little extra: our tips for thrifting like a pro

The most important thing is timing: early in the morning to find the best items, or late in the evening for rock-bottom prices; you have to choose your strategy. But don’t forget about preparation either. We won’t surprise you by saying to bring a bag, that’s for sure, but inside, pack a tape measure, some small change (it’s easier for negotiation), and maybe even a checkbook and a magnifying glass. It might feel a bit old-fashioned, we agree, but at least you’ll know exactly what you’re buying.

When it comes to shopping, there are a few rules to follow. If you're buying a valuable item, always try to get the receipt (you never know). As for gold: look for a hallmark, that's a tiny mark that certifies the quality of the gold, and there's one on every jewelry piece. And for your bargaining, our favorite trick is to offer to take a second item when the dealer doesn't want to lower the price. The bundle effect always relaxes them!
