Modern, artistic, unexpected... When it comes to surprises, the Centre Pompidou knows how to deliver. For the Olympics, the Parisian temple of contemporary art is innovating to blend art and sport, as from July 26th to September 15th, the skatepark "Cycloïde Piazza" will be set up in front of the museum. A "skateable" sculpture adorned with bleachers and stairs.

A skatepark designed by a French artist

What to expect? A little piece of paradise for all the skateboarding enthusiasts, scooter riders, rollerbladers, and other wheeled sports lovers, and an innovative work of art for art lovers. Created by the artist Raphaël Zarka, the 600-square-meter structure has been labeled Paris 2024 as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Accessible to athletes of all levels, this unique skatepark is the perfect place to start or showcase your best tricks in front of the Parisian audience.

"At the intersection of culture and sport, suitable for amateur or professional skaters, this Cycloïde Piazza is a sculpture that is both cleverly complex and openly popular, blending multiple sources of interest: the world of skateboarding and skatepark architecture, geometric abstraction, and the scientific studies of movement that have long fascinated the artist," can be read on the Cultural Olympiad website.

Skateboarding, a recent discipline at the Olympics

Skateboarding is one of the four additional sports at the Paris 2024 Olympics, taking place from July 26 to August 11. It is only recently that this sport has joined the competition as it makes its first appearance. In 2014 at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing. It was considered a " new sport " at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. To enjoy it this year, go to Concorde Square to watch the events, or in front of the Pompidou Center to become a one-day athlete!
