The Editor

When October arrives, Halloween comes to mind. And when we talk about Halloween, we think about a good dose of fright. Because us humans, we're like that, we love watching gory stuff, subjecting ourselves to almost unbearable heart rates and scaring ourselves to the point of having nightmares. Do you also enjoy everything that is creepy and terrifying? Here's something to satisfy you well.

Popular place from the 30s

In the Yvelines, between the towns of Villennes and Médan, we find the Platais Island. This is where in the 30s, on this nearly 40-hectare land surrounded by the Seine, the two brothers André and Gaston Durville created their naturist camp known as the Domaine de Physiopolis. There are still even year-round residents, even though the place is only accessible by boat.

A water park turned into an urban exploration temple

But what interests our explorers of the macabre the most is the part of the island where we find an abandoned water complex. Closed since 2003, the place known at the time as La Plage was extremely popular and welcomed thousands of visitors every summer season. Today, it has become an essential spot for Parisian urban explorers. Its access is actually forbidden because it is very difficult to reach. You still have to cross the Seine, and there is no bridge for that. However, some have ventured there to leave us with some gloomy images to contemplate.
