It's back-to-school time and we have a mission: to plan our vacations for next year. Let's just say that 2025 has treated us well with public holidays and extended weekends — 60 days off just by taking your 25 standard vacation days — so our expectations for 2026 are sky-high. And the good news is, by smartly taking 13 days off, you can enjoy 36 days of relaxation. Let us explain.

A 2026 that kicks off with a four-day weekend

Ready to take off on vacation? Start thinking about your dream destinations, because the next holiday opportunities are coming up fast. It's quite simple and it all begins on January 1, 2026, which is a holiday and falls on a Thursday.

Just take Friday, January 2nd off, and you'll enjoy a fantastic first long weekend of four days!

April and May, the most delightful months

The second quarter of 2026 will be just as enjoyable. In April, thanks to the Easter Monday falling on the 6th, you'll automatically get a lovely three-day weekend. The same goes for May 1st and 8th, both falling on a Friday.

Little tip for the hungriest vacationers: you can take four days off from May 4 to 7 and enjoy a total of 10 days off!

As you know, May is always the most delightful month since it’s filled with public holidays — at least until they get canceled. This year, Ascension Day falls on Thursday, May 14. So, you can take Friday, May 15 off for yet another four-day weekend. And the following week, a new three-day weekend awaits you with Pentecost Monday on May 25.

A second half of the year with fewer extended weekends

In the second half of the year, expect a few less extended weekends — you can't have it all. July 14 falls on a Tuesday, and if you take Monday the 13th off, you're in for a lovely break! You'll have four days off! On August 15th, not much to celebrate this year since it's on a Saturday.

The same goes for November 1st, which will be a Sunday. However, November 11th falls on a Wednesday, giving you the chance to take your Monday and Tuesday off, or your Thursday and Friday (or all four if you really want), and enjoy a five-day weekend. Lastly, Christmas will be on a Friday, so you can look forward to a long weekend of celebrations!
