Looking for a new Italian spot to satisfy your cravings for fresh pasta? You’ll find all the answers to your food dilemmas—at least the tasty ones—at Sugo. Open for a year now just a stone's throw from Opéra, this charming little restaurant is run by experienced chefs who whip up delicious al dente pasta every day with raw, seasonal ingredients sourced directly from Italy. You can taste the difference from the very first bite!

From Italy to All Sauces

Sugo - « sauce » in Italian - truly lives up to its name: over there, you'll enjoy all sorts of flavors, paired with pasta in every shape imaginable. One particularly cool and different approach is the « weekly theme »: from Monday to Sunday, a type of pasta gets celebrated daily. It could be the very sunnyPuttanesca with tomatoes from Sardinia, olives from Liguria, Sicilian capers, and anchovies on Monday, the traditional Carbonara with pecorino, guanciale, and egg on Tuesday, or the famous Lasagnas that our videographer Zoé Stene rated 4/5 stars last year for their delicious 30-day aged beef ragù, exclusively on Thursday.

Alongside lunch, Sugo offers a fixed evening menu, which is also short, and that's definitely part of its charm. No way are they going to compromise the fresh pasta made with organic Italian durum wheat semolina, the real stars of the plate, with Frenchified recipes: here, the chefs prepare their “favorite Italian recipes.” There are five of them: while the classic Sugo (Sardinian tomatoes, of course, slowly roasted for 4 hours with garlic, salt, and pepper) is outstanding, their best sellers remain the Cacio e Pepe (pecorino, cream, and toasty pepper) and the Ragù, where tender shredded beef meets a flavorful tomato sauce packed with garlic, lemon, and parsley. It's a marvel.

A Perfect Score from Start to Finish

And the customer is equally delighted with the starters, desserts, and drinks that complete the menu. At aperitivo time, you can choose a beer, a cocktail, or some Italian wine, order a delightful starter (we're in love with the Carciofini, which are artichokes from Puglia, sun-dried tomatoes from Puglia, olives, and hazelnuts), then you slurp your pasta down in one go, and finish off with a comforting tiramisu, not too caffeinated and not too rich. As you leave, you thank the servers for their kindness, and then the chefs for the delightful journey of flavors, promising them that you'll be back to try the whole menu. Pro-me-ssa!
