"Everything is fine, it's just yoga," repeats Marine, the studio director, several times. In this large room with glass walls, intense breaths can be heard. After just a few minutes, sweat begins to bead on the glistening skin. "It's great, keep going!" On the mats, about thirty students have come to participate in this Bikram yoga class on this Monday morning. The few beginners of the day mingle with the many regulars of the studio, which has been in the capital for over 20 years. Commonly known as hot yoga, Bikram yoga is a practice that takes place in a heated room.Illustrated as the original form of this practice. The concept? A sequence of 26 postures and two breathing exercises, in a room heated to 40°C. Yes, it's hot. Surpassing fears and pushing limits would be lying to say that we didn't go there with apprehension. Fear of this intense heat, fear of not being able to hold on, fear of not being able to do it. "If you feel a little dizzy, don't hesitate to take a break and start again when you feel better. There is no judgement," Marine told us before the start of the class. But the cocoon of kindness and the diversity of profiles present in the room, in terms of age, gender, and level, allows us to quickly put things into perspective. "We are trained to know everyone's names. We make sure that everyone is okay, there is a real support," she added.le.

Sometimes we need to stop and catch our breath, and the surprise is huge: the postures are accessible to everyone, the heat is bearable for 1.5 hours, and being able to complete the session fills us with an unexpected determination to push our limits. Nothing else exists around us, we exert ourselves with gentleness and intensity.

A detoxified body, a calmed mind

Hatha yoga, vinyasa yoga... The disciplines of yoga are as diverse as they are varied, so why try bikram yoga in particular? "It allows us to detox our bodies, calm our minds, and regenerate our energy." So why not give it a try? It might just be the perfect fit for you!

To ease chronic pain, reduce stress, promote weight loss, improve flexibility and concentration," says Marine, who fell in love with the concept years ago when she was still living in the United States. There are no specific contraindications for the practice. "Some people come every day, others once a week, it depends on each person. The only rule is to hydrate well afterwards." The effects were immediately felt! At the end of the session, the body feels lighter, relaxed, and free from all the toxins and negativity that may have been present. Suddenly, the breathing seems clearer. Even though our muscles may still tremble under the intense power of the exercise, it is easy to ignore it because of how amazing it feels.satisfaction is great. After a shower and some conversations, we leave the studio with a smile on our lips, already thinking about the next time we will try the experience again.
