Due to a lack of ground space, the new buildings in the capital rise towards the sky. This brand new sports complex in the 12th is no exception. Just a stone's throw from the Porte de Vincennes, a huge wooden building is about to come to life to welcome all the local athletes and also the schoolchildren in the neighborhood who are lacking facilities. A true temple dedicated to physical activities, whose construction has just begun and should be completed within a year.
A space dedicated to all forms of sports
Behind a massive wooden facade will soon reveal a one-of-a-kind sports complex in the Parisian landscape. On the agenda: a climbing wall on the ground floor, a multi-sport hall on the first floor, and fitness and boxing areas.
On the second floor, and finally, a huge dojo will take up the entire third floor, to welcome all the potential Teddy Riner and Clarisse Agbegnenou from the 12th. Let’s just say that these different practices were not chosen by chance, but due to the growing enthusiasm they have garnered in recent years.Dojo, mur d’escalade, salle de boxe… À Paris, un complexe sportif tout en hauteur sortira de terre dans un an

One thing is for sure, we're eager to discover this project, and we’re not the only ones! The mayor of the 12th arrondissement, Emmanuelle Pierre-Marie, and the deputy mayor of Paris in charge of sports, Pierre Rabadan, are excited about this opening. "We too rarely get the chance to inaugurate sports facilities," declared the latter.
Bringing sports back to the heart of the city
The construction of this unique building is part of a city-wide policy aimed at re-establishing the importance of sports. This desire notably resurfaced during the 2024 Olympic Games, with the opening or restoration of a number of outdoor team sports fields. Spaces dedicated mainly to the practice of basketball and soccer are being created.

And the new center at Porte de Vincennes is just the first project in a long line, as the city plans to develop it even further in the near future, while also enhancing its offerings by, for example, opening a massive « Sports City », rising 5 stories high, next to the Louis-Lumière sports center in the 20th. This second project is expected to wrap up by 2027, giving you plenty of time to grab some sneakers, so don’t worry!
