In general, Europe is on a roll as 6 out of the top 10 ranked cities are located on the Old Continent. And it’s the French capital that takes the crown with flying colors. A splendid victory, likely won thanks to the fabulous Olympics this summer or, more recently, to the reopening of Notre-Dame, eagerly awaited (quite literally) like the Messiah. A well-deserved victory for the City of Light, indeed.
French Charm
So, despite the current controversies related to cleanliness issues in Paris,
>city, à its security, or even to its somewhat fragile politics (yes, that’s quite an understatement), it seems that on the international stage, the City of Light still shines brightly. A new ranking of the 100 best cities to visit has just been revealed by Euromonitor International, and Paris has won everyone's hearts.Madrid and Tokyo Among Top Three in Euromonitor's 2024 City Destinations Index: According to data analytics firm Euromonitor International, Paris holds onto its title as the world's top city destination for the fourth consecutive year. https://t.co/KPe7qMfQAb pic.twitter.com/kKybo1kyPs

It is based on 55 very objective criteria, divided into 6 specific areas, that the study company has established its ranking. To win the gold medal, Paris was able to rely on tourism performance, tourist infrastructure, policy and tourist attractiveness (thankfully, it wasn’t about general politics; that would have been quite a hassle), as well as health and safety, sustainability, and economic performance.
The complete ranking
If France has once again dominated the ranking, thanks to an increase of 19% of visits this year (thanks to the Olympics), and the rest of Europe is holding its own too, with the Old Continent boasting 10 cities in the top 20, including 6 among the top 10 winners. Asia has nothing to envy either, as Tokyo made a spectacular entrance in the rankings straight to 4th place last year, and the Japanese capital has gained a place!

We also want to celebrate the appeal of our beautiful region, Île-de-France, as the only other French city to make it into the top 100 with a wonderful 78th place is none other than Marne-la-Vallée, which we can imagine is giving a big thanks to Disneyland Paris and La Vallée Village. In the meantime, we’re leaving you with the complete top 10, which will give you some ideas for your next holiday destinations!
