We can complain about the weather, the subways constantly being late, and all sorts of pesky invasions, but it seems that our friends across the Atlantic place Paris among the top cities in the world. This is certainly true for a marketing consultancy based in Vancouver, Canada, The Resonance Consultancy, which has been evaluating the daily lives of residents in the largest cities around the globe for nearly a decade.

Every year, this Canadian company reveals its ranking of the best cities with over a million inhabitants worldwide. And to our great surprise, in this brand new 2025 ranking, Paris takes 3rd place, just behind London (a steadfast leader for several years) and New York!

A Colorful Array of Sources

To establish its cl...The assessment, The Resonance Consultancy is based on very specific and often quite objective criteria. It takes into account all the urban innovations, the developments put in place to tackle new climate challenges, the space for pedestrians and soft transportation methods (like biking), the diversity of cultural offerings, the city's international image… In short, everything that makes a city cool to live in.

Add to this the opinions of over 22,000 people from 31 different countries, who will surely have a more subjective take on the qualities and the flaws of their respective cities, and you'll get “the most complete and holistic approach to measuring and comparing the perception and performance of cities,” explains Chris Fair, CEO of Resonance.

The Winning Trio

This year, it’s London that once again tops the rankings for the tenth consecutive year. The English capital never hesitates to turn each of its characteristics into a selling point, even including the somewhat unpredictable weather, for example. It’s closely followed by New York, and then Paris, the ultimate tourist destination that continues to delight crowds thanks to its cultural offerings.

pure and gastronomic.

This year, the City of Light has also benefited from the Olympic effect, which has given it an absolutely incredible image on the international stage, thanks to a nearly deserted city and stunning competition venues. The same goes for the increase in green spaces, the development of bike lanes, and the upcoming reopening of Notre-Dame that, according to the report, all contribute to the city's appeal.

Let's stick to this path, goal: first place for 2026!
