There are some news that warm the heart. The cutest sensation on the Internet, a.k.a. Punch the monkey, has touched hearts all around the globe. And for good reason: this poor little ball of fur, abandoned by her mother, had a tough time making friends and found solace only in a plush orangutan. However, the little plush toy wasn't enough to fend off the bullying monkey gang, so the zoo decided to transfer Punch for a more fulfilling life. And it's Paris that has the happy chance to welcome this little one, in the Jardin des Plantes!

The cutest star on social media

Born last July in Japan, at the zoo in the city of Ishikawa, Punch unfortunately had little chance of survival after being rejected by her mom. So it was the keepers of the animal park who had to take care of the little monkey, hand-feeding her every day and watching over her closely. The only hiccup? Baby monkeys...It's the annoying tendency (purely instinctive and natural) to cling to their mother right from birth. Tough luck for Punch, who found himself thrown into the harsh reality of life without any reference points… So, to ease his anxiety, the caregivers decided to provide blankets and stuffed animals for the little monkey to snuggle up with. Among them, Punch has taken a particular liking to a stuffed orangutan, which has become like a substitute mom. The images of him cuddling up have captured the attention of the entire Internet, and at the same time, it's just so adorable!

Punch in Paris

Yet, Punch was introduced to a small group of macaques for the first time in January. And even though he’s friendly and loves interacting with the other macaques, the poor guy really struggles to fit in. What followed was a long period where internet users could witness the meanness of his "friends," who, like his mother, have turned their backs on him.

To remedy this situation, the Ishikawa Zoo had to make a decision: isolate Punch or transfer him. In the end, the second option was chosen, and for his new home, the Menagerie of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris was selected. It's a peaceful environment where orangutans (just like his plush toy!), kangaroos, and red pandas live in perfect harmony. And this means one thing: Parisians can finally shower the macaque with lots of love in person!

P.S.: Before we wrap up, did you check the date today? Always keep a hint of skepticism... because as tradition goes, April 1st is often a day for mischief, and here at Bonbon, we love a good joke. Don’t be too disappointed; our pranks have sometimes ended up coming true in the past... You never know!
