For us, the latest Astérix movie was quite a big flop. With "L'Empire du Milieu," the fifth film of the franchise inspired by Uderzo and Goscinny's works, Guillaume Canet didn't really please everyone with his film. There were bad jokes, actors and actresses who were not really up to par, and editing mistakes.

If there's one person who has never disappointed, it's Alain Chabat. Director of the unforgettable comedy Mission Cleopatra, which recorded over 25 million admissions in cinemas worldwide, the actor and director is back to work, 20 years after its release. And unlike his first success, he has committed to a 3D animation series, adapted from the seventh comic book album, The Battle of the Chefs, published in 1966.

Panoramix goes crazy after getting hit by a menhir

In this comic, Panoramix goes crazy and loses his memory after getting hit on the head by a menhir accidentally thrown by Obelix. This story has already been depicted in the animated film Asterix and the Big Fight (1989).

This incredibly exciting project was announced in 2021, and we were expecting it to be released in 2024. However, we will have to wait a bit longer: the publishing house Albert Rene explained in a statement that "the series is currently being produced at the TAT studio in Toulouse."

So mark your calendars because it will be coming to your screens in the first half of 2025.

An immersive Asterix exhibition in October 2024

If you're feeling impatient because it seems like an eternity, you can always get your hands on the latest issue.album up to date, The White Iris, available in bookstores since October 2023. The characters from the comic book will also be at the heart of an immersive exhibition in October 2024 in the capital, and the Grévin Museum will unveil statues of Astérix, Obélix, and Ideafix in 2024.
