It’s a mission she never strays from. Every year, the Île-de-France association Règne Animal aims to save around a hundred baby goats destined for the slaughterhouse. The birth season runs from the end of January to May, and 2025 is no exception, so the association is making a call for help to find families that might give these little animals a second chance.

Barely born, already condemned

According to the 2021 report from the General Council of Food, Agriculture and Rural Spaces (CGAAER), 1.3 million adorable baby goats were born in 2017 for one single purpose: to trigger lactation in their mothers and thus secure the gallons and gallons of goat's milk that France produces every year. After a year, the females are supposed to...

give birth to their first little ones to continue the cycle. The males, on the other hand, are fattened up and sent to the slaughterhouse for their meat. It’s this completely unfair and brutal system that the Règne Animal association denounces and fights against every year, encouraging you to do the cutest good deed in the world.

150 kid goats saved from the slaughterhouse

The birth season is here, and the association is launching, as every year, a massive call for help to urgently find new families who will have the chance to...e share their life and garden with adorable little goat kids. Forget about it if you live in a 20 m² studio in Paris: to apply, you need at least 700 m² of land per animal, live in France, and adopt at least two so they have company. Some rather specific conditions, and not necessarily easy to meet. But it’s really for a good cause, so if you have a friend, an aunt, an old elementary school buddy, or an aerobics teacher who might be interested, don’t hesitate to pass the info along. And if, by some miracle, you have a huge plot of land right in the heart of Paris, and all you’re missing is two adorable little creatures, then reach out to Règle Animal on their social media.
