It's already been almost a year since the Paris 2024 Olympics delighted the capital. Breathtaking event venues, magical ceremonies, and exceptional sports performances—there are countless reasons to celebrate this event. However, since we don't have impressive enough candles, the city is bringing back nothing less than the Olympic cauldron, which soared above the Tuileries Garden for two months last summer. But what awaits us in this 2025 edition, kicking off on June 21st?
A New Summer Tradition
It had hypnotized the spectators who came to watch it rise at the Tuileries Garden every evening during the Paris Olympics. So much so that, back in January, a decision was made to give the residents of the...
capital and tourists such a beautiful gift : bringing it back to the heart of this magnificent park every summer, until the next edition of the Games, in Los Angeles in 2028.🔥 La vasque sera de retour à Paris tous les étés jusqu'aux JO de Los Angeles !

« It will return every summer. From the Music Festival to the Sports Festival to the Los Angeles Games. » These are the words that Emmanuel Macron used to officially announce the project on January 31. It’s now official, and especially very close, as the gigantic balloon will indeed be visible from June 21 at its original location. However, be careful, while it is returning, there will be some changes.
The flame 2.0
While many are already excited about this grand return, we’d like to give you a heads up that it will be almost the same, with "almost" being the key word in this sentence. Indeed, according to the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic flame is not allowed to burn between two editions of the Games. However, Paris has received a special exemption for... the simple and good reason that it is electric. However, it cannot be called "Olympic Flame" as the term is trademarked, and for now, rumors are swirling around the names "basin Paris 2024" or "100% electric basin". Additionally, this year it will have a lovely white light, similar to the one used during the champions parade in September 2024, moving away from the yellow glow reserved for the Olympics.

A Musical Takeoff
The basin is expected to be refilled and installed in the Tuileries around June 10th, just in time for its first flight of 2025 on June 21st. Naturally, with such a date, the event couldn’t happen without music. A concert has actually been announced for that first evening, although no names have been revealed yet. Perhaps a return from Lady Gaga orCéline Dion? It’s uncertain, but we’re definitely allowed to dream…

Once installed, the basin will be presented just like last year, in open access, but this time without reservations. And once again, it will take flight every evening until September 14, which has become the Sports Festival, in honor of the aforementioned champions' parade. Exciting highlights, currently kept secret, will take place throughout the summer, like on July 26, the official date for the 2024 Olympics.
