Rediscovering old films on the big screen at Brady

It’s THE gathering for all film lovers in the capital on the hunt for rare and forgotten movies. The film club “Back on Screen” is back this Monday at Brady Cinema, presenting this time, The Wife of Jean (1974), a work by director Yannick Bellon. The film focuses on the unique journey of a woman, Nadine, who must reclaim her independence after being abandoned by her husband. Learning a trade, getting used to solitude, forming new connections… So many themes that make her so much more than “Jean’s wife.” To dive deeper, the screening will be followed by a discussion with Eric le Roy, film historian and head of the Archives department at CNC, and Aurore Renaut, a lecturer in cinema and visual studies at the University of Lorraine and director of the European Institute.; and cinema and audiovisual (IECA).

For the past year, he has been crafting a volcanic menu with five delightful stops that is sure to impress!the mackerel grilled to perfection, accompanied by a tangy sorrel sauce, kiwi, and a perfectly spicy chili, along with a divine roasted puree, fava beans, and black cardamom juice. Rediscovering Paris through Agnès Varda's eyes at the Carnavalet Museum

How about exploring Paris in a different way? Head over to the Carnavalet Museum, which is showcasing an exhibition this spring that offers a fresh perspective on Agnès Varda's work. What’s on the agenda? A journey through the artist's photographs, where she shines just as much behind the lens as she does in her role as a filmmaker. From her early snapshots to the beginnings of her most famous films, the exhibition invites us to discover the Paris of Varda through 130 prints (including many never-before-seen) and film excerpts entirely or partially shot in the city.
