This medieval castle near Paris transforms into an open-air cinema

If you haven’t added an outdoor movie session to your summer schedule yet, it’s high time to fix that mistake! Among the dozens of events blooming all around Paris and its surroundings, this one might just win the award for the best setting.

On the Wednesdays of August 12, 19, and 26, Blandy-les-Tours castle in Seine-et-Marne is hosting a new edition of the Crénaux de la Nuit, its must-visit outdoor cinema under the stars. The lineup includes: three free evenings, three classic films, and a setting straight out of a medieval tale.

A giant screen? No, centuries-old ramparts!

Here, there's no white canvas stretched between two trees. The films are projected directly onto the impressive ramparts of the castle of Blandy. It's a pretty unique way to watch a movie, surrounded by towers, stones rich in history, and a summer sky that sparkles.

Starting at 8:30 PM, the castle gates open to the public. Then, as night falls, the projections come to life on the walls of this 13th-century fortress.

 

This year, animals are the stars

This summer, theNight Slots highlight animals with a lineup designed to please the whole family. The kick-off will be on Wednesday, August 12 featuring The Lion King, the beloved Disney classic. On August 19, get ready for magic with Fantastic Beasts, a chance to dive back into this enchanting world and meet fascinating creatures. Finally, on August 26, the season will wrap up with music in Sing 2, an animated comedy that is as hilarious as it is heartwarming.Three films, three vibes, and one exceptional setting: the walls of Blandy Castle transformed, for one evening, into a giant cinema screen.

 

The Summer's Great Deal

The event is completely free!

Free entry and open access. The only rule? Arrive a little early to choose the best spot. Our friendly tip: bring a blanket, a cushion, or even a folding chair to enjoy the screening in the best conditions.

With medieval heritage, a friendly atmosphere, and movies under the stars, Les Crénaux de la Nuit ticks all the boxes for the perfect summer outing. And honestly, watching The Lion King projected on the ramparts of a centuries-old castle is definitely more charming than a stuffy air-conditioned room.
