From June 15 to July 15, 2026, American Express is relaunching its Shop Small®, which aims to encourage consumers to discover and support the independent businesses that bring life to their neighborhoods. The principle is simple: €5 back for every €20 spent at participating locations using an American Express Card*. Restaurants, grocery stores, cafes, boutiques, and artisans: hundreds of thousands of merchants are joining in across France, including several thousand in Paris. It’s a wonderful opportunity to (re)discover those local gems while supporting the local economy!
Three Parisian spots we absolutely love
Among the participating businesses in Paris, it’s hard not to mention Baobar, Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie Street in the Marais (4th). This Asian spot, which opened in 2023, has quickly made a name for itself in the neighborhood with its ultra-soft baos, generous stir-fried noodles, and homemade dim sum. The atmosphere is friendly, featuring modern decor, cocktails, and authentic Chinese cuisine inspired by Asian street food stalls.

Another place that definitely deserves a visit: Plaq Chocolat, on Rue du Nil (2nd). Behind this iconic shop beloved by chocolate lovers, you'll find a passionate duo who source beans from all over the world to create ultra-delicious bean-to-bar chocolate bars. But Plaq is also a fantastic spot for snacking, with cookies, chocolate mousses, babka, and ice cream creations in the summer.

Finally, we can't forget to mention Maison de Senteurs, nestled on Rue Fléchier in the 9th arrondissement. This charming shop, inspired by the Mediterranean basin, offers perfumes, home fragrances, and natural skincare centered around jasmine, orange blossom, and prickly pear. It's a delightful place that provides a true sensory journey right in the heart of Paris.

How to take advantage of the refund ?
First, you need to register your American Express Card for the Shop Small® offer on your online account or through the brand's app before making your purchases. Then, each purchase of at least 20€ in a single transaction at a participating store allows you to receive 5€ refunded directly to your account. The offer is valid up to 2 times per cardholder, at 2 different merchants (one use per establishment)*. Just a heads up: this promotion is limited to the first 40,000 registrants. It's the perfect excuse to try out new spots in Paris this summer!
