The Editor

For 10 years now, Le Carreau du Temple has been striving to offer us a new perspective on the body by developing innovative links between art and sport. And this time is no exception. For its anniversary, the Parisian institution invites us to meet on May 18, from 2pm to 11:30pm, for a variety of activities to do with family or friends, to awaken all our senses, and discover our bodies, again and again.

Activities for Everyone

When we think of birthdays, we think of gifts. However, this time, it's not the one we are celebrating who will be spoiled, but us. To celebrate its first decade, Le Carreau du Temple offers us a plethora of activities, all aimed at breaking down barriers: between body and mind, between ages, and between amateurs and professionals. The grand hall transforms into a place of connection, discovery, and above all, pleasure.

And the good news is that there is something for everyone. Both young and old will be welcomed alike, with performances, workshops, and even an incredible Roller Dance open to all. The youngest will have the opportunity to challenge the futility of gender and cultural barriers through various activities.Enjoy reading a superb text by Jessica Love, beautifully interpreted by Soa from Muse.

While the children learn to look at the world with fresh eyes by reflecting on the possibility of freely choosing their role models, the (slightly) older ones can recharge and reconnect by enjoying a Pilates Booty class or a Drag workshop, to learn how to breathe confidence. These are two absolutely fail-safe ways to reconnect with oneself by learning to listen to their body, and to give themselves a little ego boost that is always welcomed.

A festive day full of good vibes

On top of that, Le Carreau du Temple offers us a wild evening, with an incredible DJ set by Barbara Butch, followed by a Roller Dance that immerses us directly into the 80s. At the beginning of the evening, the iconic Silent Disco will take us on a journey to various universes thanks to a selection of songs and beats that will make your body move without even realizing it! Let go of your inhibitions and dance like nobody's watching, it's the perfect opportunity to have fun and let yourself be carried away by the music. All the ingredients you need for a perfect end to a day where you can be yourself and celebrate your uniqueness.

Jean Paul Gaultier's line will have both young and old dancing to disco pop beats, for a lively, joyful and festive afternoon party.

Next, the Martine Patine collective will transform the place into a huge roller skating rink, inviting anyone wearing sizes 30 to 47 to relive their greatest La Boum fantasies, embracing their passion for skating, or simply enjoying a unique moment, in joy and good spirits. As you can imagine, it's going to be a crazy, cultural, dancing, rolling night…

And as always, we can expect continuous art installations (including a digital visual installation along the entire facade of the venue), performances, and of course quality food from the Comptoirs de Milo. In short, all the elements are coming together to show us that, at just 10 years old, Le Carreau du Temple already has everything of a grand establishment.
