The temple of culinary craftsmanship Japanese, Kama-Asa, located on Rue Saint-Jacques, is celebrating its 8th anniversary. And for the occasion, the shop is going all out and transforming its space into a true, ultra-gourmet Japanese salon.


But what exactly is Kama-Asa ?

If starred chefs and cooking enthusiasts are salivating at the mere mention of this name, a little historical reminder is in order. Founded in 1908 in Tokyo, in the famous Kappabashi chef district, Kama-Asa embodies the excellence of Japanese craftsmanship for over a century. Its philosophy? The “Kumitate,” the art of designing tools of such quality that they elevate the actions of the user and the taste of the ingredients.

After conquering Japan, the institution chose Paris in 2018 to open its very first international location right in the heart of the 5th arrondissement. For 8 years now, this shop-gallery has become the ultimate spot to find hand-forged knives, Nanbu Tekki cast iron skillets, and traditional pots that last a lifetime.

The festival will also welcome artisans and producers straight from the archipelago to showcase exquisite sakes, rare teas, and exceptional condiments.
