This summer, Cortado, a coffee shop with Iberian flavors on rue Charlot (3rd arrondissement), celebrated its first anniversary with a delightful party featuring a tower of tortillas. And just like that, after lighting the first candle, this charming spot is embarking on an exciting new project: the opening of a typical Spanish canteen, just a few steps away!
From Barcelona to Paris
This summer, there's no need to fly to the Iberian Peninsula. Spain is coming to Paris, and it’s happening on rue Charlot, just a hop away from the square du Temple. First, with a coffee shop that has become the HQ for many Parisians. And for good reason: here, they serve great coffee from Nomad Coffee – with beans roasted right in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona – and a selection of cositas to tuck into.under the tooth, like the traditional Mixto, a stuffed croissant with iberian acorn ham and black garlic manchego, the best seller of the shop.

And that was all it took for the locals, who keep asking for more and more to satisfy their cravings. To this, the young owners of Cortado responded: come back to the same street for even more Spanish flavors, in a casual bar-style canteen reminiscent of Madrid or Barcelona.
The neighborhood cantina
Since the end of the month of In July, Charlot Street welcomes Cortado Cantina, a Cortado 2.0 that sets aside matcha and other lattes, giving more room to the authenticity of Spanish cuisine. Behind the stove, the young chef Cecilia explores classics from her country, which she happily serves in the form of tapas and small sharing plates.
On the menu, you’ll find the classic ultra-melting tortilla, as well as boquerones, anchovies generously bathed in olive oil; Cecina de León, deliciously smoked dried beef; ensaladilla rusa, a type of salad with plenty of mayonnaise; melon-jamón, a top-notch starter; Catalan-style escalivade; cherry-infused tartare; and Guiso del día, a sauce dish that changes with the day's arrivals. In short, you’ll have plenty to indulge in, all in a friendly atmosphere, with wooden tables and a buddy bar, just like the best...neighborhood canteens of the sunny peninsula.
