Distrito Francès is welcoming 2025 in style: the restaurant that looks like a Mexican house is getting ready to celebrate 10 years of existence and deliciousness for Parisians on the hunt for thrilling experiences. A decade of sharing, enjoyment, and spice: let’s take a look at the recipes that make it one of the most sought-after Mexican spots in the capital.

A cozy and colorful cantina

But before we dive into the food scene, we must mention the captivating atmosphere of the place. One step inside, and you'd want to stay there for ages (we just settle for the closing time instead). To the rhythm of a mariachi fading into the background of conversations, we take a seat at one of the wooden tables that fill this cool bobo-Mexican cantina.

The layout consists of three spaces: on the ground floor, groups of friends prefer the large host table, while smaller gatherings opt for the more intimate corners. For events or traditional celebrations – like El Dia de los Muertos, for example! – the upstairs can be privatized for wild evenings. As for the decor, a big thanks to Hervé Labarre, the decorator behind Floyd's and La Chambre aux Oiseaux, who had the brilliant idea to mix ceramics, wood, and...

pop colors. A winning trio.

When Mexican Cuisine Spices Up France

Distrito Francés stands out from its peers by adding a French twist to its dishes, but fear not, purists! The Mexican chef Juan Manuel Leon remains true to the great classics.

ssiques of Mexico. For starters, you’ll find a delightful shared guacamole (9.20 € for M) enhanced with coriander, red onions, lime, and jalapeño, perfect when paired with quesadillas (8.20 € for 8 pieces) dipped in a chipotle mayonnaise.

Next, we dive into the serious stuff by ordering the « El F***ckin Burrito » (€13.20), a traditional wheat tortilla that embodies the essence of comfort food: tender Birria beef slow-cooked for 5 hours, rice, lettuce, a blend of two melted cheeses, all topped off with guacachile salsa - a spicy jalapeño emulsion - feta, shredded carrots, and frijoles.

And because Distrito Francès proudly calls itself a Parisian Taqueria, it would be a real shame not to try one of their tacos, especially when one of them, the Daddy Yankee, (€12.60 for three pieces) is so addictive. Inside, the pork shoulder marinated in a homemade mole with secret spices and 4 types of chili will knock you off your feet. It’s a bestseller among many others. Pro tip: go back multiple times to taste everything!
