Exactly a year ago, Marie decided to open her tea salon, The Indian Social Club, to pay tribute to a country she fell in love with almost by accident, during a humanitarian trip. Since then, she has been taking our taste buds to India, thanks to drinks to die for and ultra indulgent pastries. A timeless place, which we recommend 100%.

A piece of New Delhi in Paris

As soon as we push the door of this small intimate tea room, we are transported somewhere else. Posters, books, and Indian furniture, everything is designed to make us feel like we're far from home, and it works. Between the super bright entrance and the much more intimate back room (not to mention the inviting terrace), the advantage is that we have plenty of choices. We finally choose the interior, drawn by the subtle scents of spices that immediately surround us, and, most of all, make us really eager to start tasting.

A moment of culinary escape

And here is where things get complicated. How to choose from the selection of hot and cold drinks, with flavors that make you dream? Between the Kaapi, traditional Indian coffee served in dabaras, and the Kashmiri kahwa (contrary to its name, a variety of tea), our hearts are torn. But as we are in a foodie mood, we finally opt for an incredible Spicy Vanilla Steamer with almond milk (to die for), and a Choco Chai, made with Sri Lankan chocolate.

To accompany all of this, we enjoy a Jalebi, a sugar donut dipped in a rose syrup typical of India, as well as an incredible homemade cake by Marie, this day with cardamom and lemon. And the least we can say is that we are not disappointed by the journey. All Indian pastries are made at Krishna Sweet, in La Chapelle, and it's very successful (but very sweet, we prefer to warn you). As for the homemade desserts, we can only tip our hat: it's delicious. We still have a hard time getting.Spicing up the cookies with spices. 🍪🌿
