Because in Paris, everything moves quickly and costs a lot, it's nice to find a few spots where you can slow down and save some money. One of those places is La Clap, a restaurant-bar tucked between Jussieu and the Jardin des Plantes, which opened last December and promises the amazing deal of offering a lunch snack for under €4. A fantastic find that’s hard to come by (or is it?), making this place a true crisis-buster spot.
The restaurant-bar that delights students
Enrique, Alex, Kevin, and Ariel, four former students from Jussieu, took over an old bar next to their university to create La Clap. A place that brings students together for a hot lunch, and most importantly, super affordable prices. To achieve this, the four friends made the bold bet to align their prices with those of CROUS, without compromising on homemade quality. And on the menu, it features a homemade burger for just €3.90, complete with bun, patty, and sauce.

An unbeatable offer that you can find every lunchtime, from Monday to Friday, for a takeaway lunch. But if you prefer to sit down and enjoy a cozy meal, no worries! You can also indulge in a complete menu for just 6.90€ on-site, which includes a homemade burger (add €1 for the cheeseburger version), homemade fries, and a drink of your choice.
The spot where you drink
Enjoy great bites without breaking the bank
In the evening, the menu expands and brings flavors from afar with Chef Laurent (Lolo to friends), who offers delightful Afro-Caribbean specialties (always at low prices). Starting at 6 PM, you can indulge in tasty accras or reinvented boktis, all served in a sharing plate format, with recipes that change every day.

And since every good student is on the lookout for a great affordable spot to grab some drinks after classes, the bar side keeps in line with its restaurant and offers reasonably priced drinks. Expect to pay €3.50 for a pint, €6.50 for a classic cocktail, or just €4 for a glass of wine. No complaints here: at Jussieu, it’s happening at La Clap.
