Walking around the neighborhood of the oldest university in Europe, you've likely seen its iconic facade, featuring the classic Parisian brasserie typography. Le Balzar is a beloved institution, offering an authentic Parisian ambiance where you can enjoy essential French cuisine.

A popular bistro that attracts the greatest

Since its opening in 1894 by Amédée Balzar, this 6th district bistro never seems to empty. Whether it's local workers enjoying its very affordable good cuisine at lunchtime, or students from the Sorbonne who like to hang out for a drink after class, it's a reference that has always attracted a fashionable crowd.

While Albert Camus, Simone de Beauvoir, and André Malraux were often seen there in the mid-20th century (when they weren't at Les Deux Magots), they were later replaced by actors drawn by the many cinemas in the neighborhood. It was not uncommon to see them there. Johnny Depp was also spotted there at a certain time. And his proximity to t .The lively Latin Quarter adds to its charm. The theater district still attracts many artists and art enthusiasts, while the esteemed Sorbonne University is a beloved spot for intellectuals and artists. It quickly becomes a must-visit gathering place for politicians and intellectuals, no matter the era.

Good food, without breaking the bank

Step into the cozy ambiance of a classic Parisian brasserie with its tile floors, opaline globes, and rustic wood tables. It's a delightful experience for tourists and those who appreciate the unique charm of these traditional establishments.

Enjoy a straightforward menu featuring dishes like celery remoulade, snails, country terrine, tartare, and beef bourguignon, along with the weekly specials.

My personal favorite is the beef bourguignon - a comforting classic that never disappoints!

Welcome to our charming restaurant, where every dish is bursting with flavor and each bite is as nostalgic as it is delicious. All our dishes are made with fresh, carefully selected ingredients, and at very affordable prices considering the quality and the atmosphere.

At midday, for example, you can enjoy a starter/main course or main course/dessert menu, for the modest sum of €26. So, will we see you there?
