In the capital, wine bars number in the dozens, maybe even hundreds. How about small restaurants serving shareable plates? It's the same story. So when you find a gem that perfectly combines both, you definitely want to hold on to it. To find it, head to the heart of the City of Light, specifically Mandar Street, just a stone's throw from Châtelet, for a timeless evening.

Two rooms, a thousand vibes

From the street, it's impossible not to be drawn in by the atmosphere pouring out of Babi. Especially lately, now that the sunny days have finally returned. In this charming cobbled path, this spot has quickly established itself as a must-visit, gathering both local residents and Parisians from further away, and even ... some tourists who are lucky enough to have discovered the place.

Once inside, we get cozy because let me tell you, here, we take our time, and we do it with joy. In both rooms, intimate tables are lined up, perfect for a couple or a lovely group of friends ready to indulge. And for the most curious, we settle in ...directly at the counter, to enjoy a different atmosphere, with a direct view of the open kitchens where the true treasures of this place are prepared: real little gems.

A Thousand and One Flavors

What undoubtedly gives Babi its strength and richness is the quality of its dishes, coupled with a service that exudes perfection. On the menu, about a dozen choices, all designed using seasonal products, delighting us with vegetables, fish, and meats that are elevated thanks to masterful cooking and seasoning. With every bite, it’s an explosion of flavor that you never really recover from. During our visit, a (very) special mention goes to the pepper butter, served with a fried pita, and to the skewers of...Asian-flavored eggplant.

But while Neo is whipping up dishes that we're sure to remember for a long time, Jeremy is not to be outdone, providing stellar service while offering welcome wine recommendations in light of the richness of the menu. And one thing’s for sure, get ready to be amazed by the many references that...will take you on a journey without leaving the table. In short, Babi is the key to an incredibly successful evening, a pretty perfect balance that can be found both on the plates and in the atmosphere, where you will love coming back again and again.
