The Editor

Sometimes, to escape our reality, we want to watch a soft movie that soothes our senses. We instinctively choose a Ghibli film to sleep on Totoro's belly, live with wolves in the forest like Princess Mononoke, or climb into the sky with Pazu and Sheeta. And we remember that the element that makes these Japanese animations so relaxing is undoubtedly their music, all composed by Joe Hisaishi. With over 110 films to his name, the one who has touched countless generations will be honored in a symphonic concert at the Salle Pleyel on November 19, 2025.

30 Years of Musical Collaboration

"The Path of the Wind" (My Neighbor Totoro), "Carrying You" (Castle in the Sky), "A Journey" (The Wind Rises)… For nearly 30 years, I have collaborated with the master of Japanese animation, Hayao Miyazaki, and we owe Joe Hisaishi the most iconic themes from our favorite films.

To pay tribute to this magnificent work of great richness, the symphonic orchestra European Philharmonia, under the direction of conductor Walter Proost, will perform Joe Hisaishi's compositions with the utmost precision. Unfortunately, the composer will not be among the audience.
