Known for its delicious Asian eats and budget-friendly bars, Belleville Street transforms into a true open-air festival for the Chinese New Year. To celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse – which takes place on February 17th – the coolest street in Paris will once again host its Lantern Festival on the weekend of February 21st and 22nd, featuring dazzling light crossings, dragon dances, and street food stalls on the agenda. The good news? It’s free and open to everyone!
A Shining Festival All Weekend Long
After a vibrant parade on January 25th, Belleville Street continues its lunar New Year celebrations in grand style. On Saturday, February 21st, and Sunday, February 22nd, Parisian locals are invited to (re)discover the neighborhood, and come see the light crossings as well as the decorations that brighten up all of Belleville Street. Meanwhile, a festive program will keep the weekend lively, both on the street and on the stage.
Main street set up at the intersection of Rue de Belleville and Boulevard de la Villette. What's on the agenda? Traditional dragon and lion dances, Eng Go Bhu shows, concerts with Chinese instruments, dances and artistic performances, beautiful Chinese acrobatic numbers, and a DJ set to keep the evening lively!

A Big Open-Air Street Food Market
In addition to the fun activities and performances, the Festival of Lanterns is sure to delight your taste buds with a huge festive market all along the pedestrian-only Belleville street for the occasion. A variety of Asian street food stalls will be waiting for you, offering all kinds of noodles, steamed or grilled dumplings, sizzling skewers, and traditional pastries. The extra touch? The market will also feature craft and calligraphy stalls and gather associations from the Asian community in Paris. So, are you ready to welcome the Year of the Horse?
