The street art movement, created right in public spaces, has been enjoying a remarkable success over the past few years. However, places dedicated entirely to urban art are still quite rare across the country. Thankfully for fans of the genre, a new institution has just opened its doors in the Loire, and it’s bound to become the go-to spot for all things related to street art and urban art.
A New Temple of Street Art
200 meters long, 150 meters wide, and 18 meters high. Those are the quite impressive dimensions of this new space fully dedicated to urban cultures. In this gigantic abandoned factory, which was once home to the construction of the Saint-Chamond tanks used during the ...World War I, a second life begins.

This Mausa, the 3rd created in France, also brings a breath of fresh air to the city of Saint-Chamond, where it is located, thanks to the tourist attraction generated by the museum. Proof of this is that in this town just 40 minutes from Lyon, two new hotels are expected to pop up by 2027. So exciting!we know, it's not very close to the capital, but it's a great chance to have a fun weekend, and you can even spend the night in the area!
An international street art exhibition
For the launch of this new institution, Stanislas Belhomme, founder of Mausa, has imagined a unique exhibition, featuring some of the biggest names in urban art from around the world. Among them are Tarek Benaoum, one of the greatest calligraphers in the world, the English artist Sickboy, and the Brazilian artist Sipros, who have come together for NoMad, allowing these various artists to express themselves directly on caravans.

And the good news is that while the entry price has been set at €10 for the full rate (which already seems pretty reasonable to us), a 2000 m² area with free access is also available to welcome as many visitors as possible, without any constraints. And for those who might feel a bit discouraged by the distance, no worries, another museum dedicated to street art should open in a few years at the gates of the capital. With its over 8,000 m², it should easily compete!
