After 7 months of complete closure and nearly 2 years of renovation, the Bourdelle Museum reopened its doors to the public on Wednesday, March 15th. For this occasion, in the heart of the Portzamparc wing, the museum is hosting the inaugural exhibition Philippe Cognée. La peinture d'après. A restored museum and a redesigned itinerary During the past two years, significant preservation and consolidation work has been carried out on the oldest building of the Bourdelle Museum. The historic workshops of sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929), which gave their name to the museum opened in 1949, have been restored while respecting the architectural heritage of the place. Built in 1878, the first wooden-framed workshop building had never been reinforced and required intervention to ensure the safety of visitors and the museum's durability.

The renovation has also allowed for a complete rethink of the collection's layout, which has been enriched with the addition of new works by contemporary artists such as Auguste Rodin, Jean Arp, and Germaine Richier, as well as new collections of drawings and photographs by Bourdelle himself. A digital offering, including screens and a mobile application, has been created to further explore the life of the former owner of the premises. Finally, a new café-restaurant named "Le Rhodia", after Bourdelle's daughter, has opened.
