An Ode to Landscapes and Their Artistic Construction

You will understand it thanks to its title: the temporary exhibition at the Louvre-Lens plunges you into nature, exploring diverse and varied landscapes. Through major works by Kandinsky, Poussin, Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Hokusai, the exhibition invites you to step into the shoes of a landscape artist and follow them through the steps of their work. With 170 artworks and a scenic design by artist Laurent Pernot, visitors immerse themselves in an immersive and sensory landscape. Within the exhibition, several artworks come to life with variations of light, as if you were seeing the landscape in all its forms from sunrise to sunset.

Free Mediations to Dive Deeper into the Exhibition

Did you know? At the Louvre-Lens, a dedicated team of mediators is present to accompany you in the exhibition and offer additional activities.Playful experiences for kids and adults alike. In a short format, you can participate in free discovery walks to see the exhibition from a different perspective, depending on the weather. Travel kits in the form of tote bags can even be distributed to you at the museum reception or at the library so you can embark on a journey in the exhibition and even outside. Olfactory, auditory, or tactile tools: each kit will allow you to experience the exhibition in a different way. And the little ones are not left out! Informative and playful labels can be found next to the artworks. Even better: thanks to the online audio guide (free), children can follow the adventures of two little girls, Aurore and Luna, who manage to enter the paintings. It is also worth noting that every weekend, the mediation team organizes parent/child activities starting from 9 months. The goal is simple: to awaken the sensitivity of the youngest ones, to art and nature!g> © Louvre-Lens / F. Iovino

An exhibition Landscape that ends in the museum park

If there's one thing we really appreciate about the Louvre-Lens, it's its huge 20 hectares park! 20 hectares of garden, serenity, and greenery... Naturally, at the end of the Landscape exhibition, we hurry to recharge in nature... and there's plenty to do! Countryside walks, vegetable garden, mini orchard, a pond where you can observe fish and dragonflies... This green lung in the heart of the city is cared for by a team of 4 gardeners who ensure the preservation of the local ecosystem. Here, we let nature take its course. We let it flourish to promote biodiversity. We don't try to constrain it. Which ultimately makes it one of the most remarkable gardens in the Hauts-de-France region (let's not forget that the museum was built on a former mining site)!

Let's finish with a good plan: starting in July, the Louvre-Lens switches to "Parc en Fête" mode. The park will be transformed into a village for 2 months with lots of free activities: mini-golf, pétanque, kitchen garden café, bike rides, guided jogging, yoga... There will even be 5 temporary artworks installed outside. The aim is to allow residents and tourists to enjoy the summer freely through sports, art or relaxation moments... So, a piece of advice, head North for the holidays!
