Until July 21, 2025, the Louvre invites you to discover fashion like you’ve never seen it before. In a spectacular exhibition, both in scale and in the pieces it showcases, this cultural institution weaves a thread between History, the history of art, and the creative genius of the greatest designers of the 20th and 21st centuries. An exceptional glam moment, taking up residence within the museum’s permanent collections for a few months.
The clothes don’t make the monk
Since its announcement a few months ago, the new exhibition at the Louvre has become the must-see cultural event of 2025, even before its opening, it’s already a can't-miss rendezvous. So, we stepped in with extremely high expectations as we explored this exciting showcase!
e; in the first rooms of the immense wing of Art Objects, which hosts Louvre Couture. And one thing is for sure, the first moments didn’t take our breath away. So much so that we were just moments away from shouting false advertising, calling for a scandal, and demanding a refund. But it only took a little deeper exploration into the maze of the exhibition for us to change our minds, and definitely more than once…Voir cette publication sur Instagram
A Breathtaking Staging
Room by room, as the pieces on display (around sixty silhouettes and about thirty accessories) follow one another, it’s impossible not to get swept up in the experience, thanks to the absolutely fascinating parallels drawn between the creations of Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, or Iris Van Herpen and the works from the Byzantine era, the Renaissance, or modern times. Presented on huge mirrored platforms, the dresses play with our perceptions, blending into the decor, and seem to float between the floor and the ceiling, in an aesthetic and enchanting ballet. Piece by piece, a fascinating dialogue emerges between the historical pieces and the fashion creations, in a staging that becomes more and more captivating as the visit unfolds.

A true maze of creations
However, we prefer to give you a heads-up: if you decide to embark on this experience (which we definitely recommend, you got that right), we suggest you set aside plenty of time. And for good reason, ...The exhibition is very, very long. The 99 displayed pieces are spread out over dozens and dozens of rooms, coming from all sides, and it's not always easy to find your way around unless you have a valuable museum map in hand. Should we see this as a tribute to Ariane wandering through the Minotaur's labyrinth with her famous thread, in relation to sewing? The mystery remains unsolved. In any case, don't let this discourage you from missing the event, or worse, cutting your visit short, as some of the most spectacular creations are found in the last rooms. And all that’s left to say is: hats off!
