After having...I studied the work of Donatello, his painting becomes more monumental. Subsequently, his style takes a completely different direction, he meets his "alter ego", the Sicilian painter Antonello de Messina, who introduces him to the Flemish taste for detail and the spatial constructions of artists from central Italy. Over time, his work is tinged with a new dramatic intensity by working with oil painting and is also enriched by Byzantine and Northern European inspirations. In search of modernity, Bellini turns to the thematic of younger painters such as the landscapes of Cima da Conegliano. At the end of his life, he reinvents his style once again by drawing inspiration from the works of his best students, including Giorgione and Titian, all while continuing to represent older motifs.Giovanni Bellini, The Drunkenness of Noah, circa 1513-15, oil on canvas, 103 x 157 cm, Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology, Besançon, Photo: © Besançon, Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology - Photography C2RMF Thomas Clot
